2. Busan Firework Festival Introduction
9th Busan Firework festival will hold for 2days on 25th and 26th and it will be the biggest and fanciest opening. To celebrate Busan's 50th city under central governments control, the festival will be done with storytelling using Niagara firework and Hugh size fireworks and Igwasoo firework which will spread from the Gwangan bridge to the ocean.
The number of fireworks used for this festival is about 80,000 and it will show they will screen Korea's suffering, rebuilding, chaos, conquest and reform of Korea from 1950s together with the firework show.
And, Before the firework event, 'The brilliant concert season2 ' will take place as a Eve concert for Busan Firework festival.
This concert will take place in Bexco Auditorium on October 24th and 25th.
Guest singers on 24th(Thursday) will be top singers and musicians such as YB(Yoon, Do-Hyun Band), Drunken Tiger(Tiger Jk, Yoon, Mi-Rae, Bizzy), Epic High, Urban Jakapa, 10CM, Kim ye-Rim and on the second day 25th(Friday), Buhwal, Choi Jung-Won&The muz, Kim Bum-Soo, JK Kim Dong Wook, After School, Poppin Hyun Jun& Park Ye-Ri will participate to perform their talents and give us an exciting show.

1. 40 stairways cultural festival.
During the Korean war, many people living in shantytown in Donggwang-Dong, Youngju-Dong, and Daechung-Dong have climbed updown this stairs many times.
This place has lots of sorrows of people who have been displaced during that time.
On August 1993, the stairs have been modified to place a monument and on a 15th day of the New Year, Yutnoli festival was celebrated hosted by Donggwang office. To remember the suffering and sorrows of the 6.25 war, the 40 stairways cultural festival takes place every year to experience and feel 'suffering days' of Korean war.
First held on 1999, the events of the festival were carrying the water jar, recording traveling theater, eating jumuk bap and other traditional foods as the main event to remember the old days during the wear.
On April 2004, sculptures of refugees during the war were made to create a memorable resting place. Jung-Gu has become a great tourist site loved by many tourists together with 'Culture and Tourist Theme road.'
With the theme of 40 stairways during Korean war on 1950, "40 stairways Culture" was opened on February 12 to establish tradition and identity. You can listen to cultural lecture, watch movie, search information on 3~4th floor of the "Jung-Gu cultural house" and you can see 40 stairways memorial hall on 5~6th floor of the building.

2. 10th Bosu-Dong Book Street Culture Festival
Today, the only remaining book street where they sell old and used books is in Bosu-Dong. You can find lots of various books as well as see the tradition of book culture in Busan.
The place is loved by many Busan city people.
Bosu-Dong book street festival is a festival held by pure private organization who are all owners of the bookstore in Bosu-Dong.
The festival is held for 3 days to improve local culture and to help distribute books with the theme of 「Books must survive」. The festival is held on end of september every year.
During the festival days, the owners of the bookstores display rare books which are difficult to find and other old unique books for everyone to see for free. You can sell your book belongings as well as buy books at a low cost.
You can also notice some art works displayed along the book street. During the festivals days, many college clubs comes to this place to perform street music to make the festival for entertaining.
Festivals such as '500won Day' where you can buy some books with just 500 won, being the owner of the bookstore, writing story, a sketch contest are held at the festival so it is very popular among children and visitors.

4. Gijang Sea Eel Festival
Sea Eel is known as a healthy food and famous for its taste.
It is full of vitamin A, calcium, and ion. Especially Sea eel is known to have calcium twice as much as the pike conger.
With its long body lika a snake and skin like any other eels, you can easily recoqnize the diffence because of the white dots lined on top of its body.
Its size is maximun 90~100cm long and eats crustacean, lugworm and other fishes. Sea eel tends to have nature of feed itself with one type of food and is unlikely to eat different foods at the same time.
Sea eels can be found in most of the coast area in Korea and as it grows, its life pattern changes. Sea eels tend to live in water 10m deep in its 1~2 years, on its 3rd year, they live in deeper water about 20~30 meters deep. On its 4th year, it goes into a deep water.
Busan city is well know for catching lots of Sea eels.
It is caught largely especially in Gijang so every year, 'Sea eel festival' is held hosted by Gijang Sea eel festival promotion committee.
During this upcoming festival in Gijang, lots of other events will be held as well such as sea eel prayer ritual, celebration performance, Sea eel music festival, 'Show! TV travelling theatre' starring Cho, Hang-Jo, Ha,Dong-Jin, Keum, Jan-Di, Min, Young-A, and Jin, Hae-Sung.

Every year on October, there’s a festival in Jagalchi where you can hear many market shops crying ‘Oi~so! Boi-so! Sa-iso!’
It is one of Korea’s biggest festival held in fish market where tradition and modern meets together filled with things to see, eat and to buy.
Experience fresh, unique and distinctive marine culture at Jagalchi festival that symbolizes Busan.
With completion of south port, breakwater and docks, many merchants have gathered here in Jagalchi. On October 1946, a group known as Sengosang Union was formed which made Jagalchi market of today. It’s called Jagalchi because of gravel pebbles which is called Jagal in Korean, and after the independence of Korea from Japan, the name was changed to Nampo-Dong. The market started to sell dried fish since 1970 and before that, over hundred fish merchants had a store selling sea eels and whale meat. Jagalchi market now became one a major tourist site of Busan.

The red carpet guests are also very excited about Busan International film festival being centered of attention all over the world representing ASIA.
Showing 301 movies from 70 different countries, many famous actors, actresses, hugh film-related celebrities comes to the festival
The list of all guests are announced a day before the opening or on the day of the opening, and until now, celebrities who will walk at the red carpet are ‘Kim HyoJin ’,’Ryu, Ji-Tae’ couple from the movie ‘Mumyungin’, ‘Lee,Yeon-Hee’,’Ok,Taek-Yeon’ of the movie ‘Geolhonjeonya’, ‘Lee,Jun’ a member of M-Black from the movie ‘Baewoo neun Baewooda’, ‘Ha, Jung Woo’ who directed his first movie ‘Rollercoaster’ and ‘Jung, KyungHo’ as the main character in that movie.

2. Opening film
The opening film ‘Vara: A Blessing, 2013’ is a 3rd long film by director Khyentse Norbu who is a Butanese high priest and also a movie director. It is based on the story ‘Blood and Tears ’ a short novel written by Sunil Gangopadiai a novelist in India.
It is a great film with beautiful film image and a great passing of woman fighting through her tough life by sacrifice, and love. You can wath the traditional southern traditional dance of India. The movie was made as a global project worked together with all the staffs in United States, Hong-Kong, Taiwan, India, and England.
In a small province in India, Lila who learns how to dance Bharata Natya by her mother wants to become a sculptor and falls in love with a low class man named Sham. Lila becomes a model by Sham’s request to make a statue of goddess and falls deeply in love. Then Lila imagines Sham as a Krsna god to devote her whole life. They are caught by a village head Suba and decides to sacrifice her happiness for Sham and her mother. In this film, the dance Bharaha Natya is more than just a dance. The statue made by Sham is posing as if it is dancing the beautifu; Bharaha Natya and Lila has an illusion of meeing Krsna God while dancing the Bharaha Natya.
Bharaha Natya is dance that makes all the different levels of class people to equal, and is special having ‘beauty’ and ‘noble’. Lila sacrificing her life for other happiness is like living the life of truth-seeker and her dance is to search for truth in life. The film has a great meaning placed into the dance and it is also very creative.
[18th International Film Festival Kim, Ji-Suk.]
Born on 1961, Khyentse Norbu was acknowledged by famous and great religious leader in 19th century Jamyang Khyentse when he was 7. Never been properly educated in film makings and learned from watching the making of the film by Bernado Bertuluche.
After receiving a great attention and support at the Canned Film Festival with his first movie <1999), The movie was shown in Sundance, Toronto and other major film festivals, and received FIPRESCI Prize in 4th Busan Internation Film Festival. ‘Vara : A blessing’ is his 3rd long film work.
‘Vara : A blessing’ ticket was sold out in just 43 seconds after the ticket opening.
